What is Medical Micropigmentation?
Micropigmentation (also known as permanent makeup) is manipulated to serve as a non-invasive scar and discoloration camouflaging technique. Using only the most organic ingredients to give patients the most natural look, Ruth Swissa prides herself on her lengthy experience, state-of-the-art techniques, color matching artistry, and good judgment. This process of permanent makeup camouflage is also known as “Medical Tattooing”.
Scars, burns and discolorations caused by vitiligo or other skin conditions can be camouflaged with the medical micro-pigmentation process. With an array of organic pigments to select from, Ruth sensibly forms a color blend to match patient skin tone. Because of her background in art she has an excellent eye for matching color to the surrounding skin. As a trusted medical practitioner, Ruth Swissa is also a Network Provider for the Cedars-Sinai Medical Group and for the Grossman Burn Center for expertise in burn and surgical scar concealment.
How does Scar Camouflage work?
Following an informative consultation with Ruth Swissa, the scar camouflage process begins with measurements of the affected area and photographs of the scar in order for Ruth to work on a custom pigment blend for the following appointment. Small areas may be tested to determine which color best matches and will deliver optimal results (this is what we term a “patch test”).
Although scar camouflage may take several visits to complete and requires more patience than other treatments, we are confidant that the results are both pleasing and rewarding for such a minimally invasive procedure.
Popular Scar Camouflage regions?
Swissa works to treat scars of all variations, some of the more common scar camouflage regions include (but are not exclusive to):
- Face Lift scars
- Breast Augmentation scars (Peri-areolar, Infra-mammary, Trans-axillary, Trans-umbilical)
- Cleft Palate
- Tummy Tuck scars
