What is the difference between Traditional Lipo and Laser Lipo?

Q: “I want to know the difference between Laser and Traditional Lipo. Is one better than the other ? Is the healing process different between the two?”

Dr. Yovino’s Answer: There is not just one answer to this question. Laser lipo refers to using a laser at some point in the procedure. Laser lipo is usually associated with smaller areas and possibly the avoidance of general anesthesia. Traditional lipo is typically performed under general anesthesia with standard size hand driven fat suctioning cannulas. In my practice, I performed a specialized safe comfortably awake approach to liposuction that utilizes thorough and complete numbing, tiny micro cannulas, laser lipolysis, multiples positions, and no sutures to name some aspects. All in all, it really comes down to who is performing the procedure and the use of advanced equipment. Hope this helps.
