What is Botox, Dysport, Xeomin and Jeuveau?
Dysport, Botox, Xeomin or Jeuveau have different names, but they are all injectable Botulinum toxin proteins referred to as “neurotoxins”. Neurotoxins relax the muscles to treat conditions such as migraines, bruxism (teeth grinding), gummy smile and overproduction of sweat. However, their most popular use is to reduce the signs of aging by smoothing the appearance of wrinkles and fine lines. Neurotoxins can be used to treat muscles between the eyebrows, crow’s feet, forehead wrinkles, chin dimpling, and other areas of the face and neck for most patients 18 to 65 years old. Our preferred neurotoxin is Dysport, which is from Galderma, part of the Restylane and Sculptra family of products.
At our Beverly Hills practice, we administer ice and/or a numbing cream in advance of the injections to ensure the most comfortable experience. Most patients do not experience side effects with this treatment, although in some rare instances, some patients experience some minor bruising that can be easily hidden with makeup.

What Could I Expect from a Neurotoxin Treatment Session?
During these outpatient treatment sessions, each injection is carefully administered into the desired treatment areas. The purified neurotoxin begins working to prevent interactions between the nerve signals and facial muscles, and you will begin to see fine lines and wrinkles soften and become smooth. By the 2-week post-treatment mark, your results will have finalized, and you will be able to enjoy the effects for 3-4 months before it is time for a retreatment. Although results are not permanent, a series of treatments may help maintain ideal results.
The treatment process is often quick – each session will take about 10-15 minutes – and there is no set downtime associated with the process! There is minimal discomfort associated with treatment. Although you should be able to return to your normal daily activities, you may notice some slight bruising or swelling in the treatment area.
