Recovery time from liposuction?

Q: “How long it takes for the swollen to go! Is there something to speed up the process pill creams massages?”

Dr. Yovino’s Answer: The answer to your question depends on your body type, the liposuction technique, what areas were treated, and post operative instruction to name some. In my practice, it’s two days of being a little messy with leakage of fluid then you’re able to shower. At this point, you’re swollen but seeing some results. It typically takes about 2 weeks for the swelling to come down enough to start appreciating your results. It will take about 3 months for the swelling to come down to a steady state. I usually wait at least 3 months to take after photos. Lasix is sometimes given to patients in the first to second week if the swelling is above average. Avoid salty foods as much as possible. I hope this helps.
